Farm Sustainability Payment
Provide an area-based safety-net payment to Northern Ireland farm businesses with sustainability conditionality.
Replaced the transition payment from 1 January 2026 under the Farm Sustainability Payment Scheme regulations. Applicants must activate at least three entitlements on three hectares of eligible land, with reduced thresholds for very small claims. Progressive capping applies above £60,000, phased in at half the final rates in the first year and at full rates thereafter. Conditionality includes participation in the soil nutrient health scheme and the bovine genetics programme, with new Farm Sustainability Standards replacing cross compliance.
